Yes its true! Grass fed beef has major health benefits.
Conventional bovines (cattle) eat a diet of grain and corn and the fats and nutrients you get from them is very different from their grass fed pals. Grass fed cattle produce heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids and conjugated linolec acid which reduces the risk of obesity, diabeties and a variety of immune disorders. Grass fed has many natural minerals and antioxidant vitamins such as vitamin E. Please read the latest info from Penny Scott.
Regards and best wishes for Christmas and 2017.
How humans used to eat saturated fats
Food fads have become part of western culture vocabulary with new terms popping up regularly. Omega 3 and Omega 6 are essential fatty acids (called essential as they are not manufactured by the body and need to be ingested). However it is the ratio of 3’s to 6’s and the sources of each which are critical to human health.
Saturated fats sourced from grass-fed animals used to be the only sort obtainable until intensive animal feeding operations commenced around 100 years ago. Results from US studies show Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio from corn-fed cattle are 20:1.
Such consumption of Omega 6 fatty acids cause inflammatory diseases including cardiac disease and diabetes. Grass fed meats provide natural saturated fats essential for brain and nerve function.
